What is an “acoustic duo”? Are you a band?We are a two-piece outfit comprised of a singer (Charlotte Melville) and an acoustic guitarist/vocalist (Daniel Karl Morgan). We perform well-known songs in their most stripped-back form, allowing you to sing along or simply enjoy the music in the background. No backing tracks or special effects - just 2 musicians performing 100% live music. The beauty of an acoustic duo is we take up very little space and we can be extremely flexible on the day (mixing up our set as needed depending on the vibe). It also means we can perform at more intimate occasions such as wedding ceremonies or dinner events. You just can’t beat the authentic sound of an acoustic guitar! Acoustic music is a very sensible option if your venue has a sound limiter installed or if a full band is out of your budget.

What kind of music do Morgan & Melville perform?Beautiful ballads, sing-along anthems and everything in-between! 100% live - no backing tracks. To see a list of some of the songs we play check out the REPERTOIRE page on our website.
-
How much do Morgan & Melville charge?Let us know when and where your event is and we’ll get back to you ASAP with a quote. If you want to book us for your big day why not check out our dedicated Weddings page and select one of our bespoke packages! The more information you provide us with, the more accurate your quote will be. For a rough guide to our pricing, download our free brochure here: A Guide to Our Services. This should give you a rough idea of our starting prices and the range of services we offer. (Please note, these do not include additional travel, setup or bespoke arrangement fees which may apply).
-
Can we come and watch you play before we book you?Of course! We regularly perform public gigs and exhibit at wedding fayres. Why not give us a follow on Facebook/Instagram to see when and where we are performing next! And make sure you come and introduce yourself! We can’t wait to meet you.
-
Do we have to pay a deposit when we book your duo?We do ask for a small deposit to secure the duo for your time and date. Once the deposit is paid, you can relax knowing you’ve got incredible entertainment secured for your event!
-
What happens if something changes before the day?A lot can happen between when you book us and your big day, so be sure to keep us in the loop, especially if there are any changes to the timings of your event e.g. a change in wedding ceremony time.
-
What happens if we have to cancel or reschedule our event? If your event is rescheduled to an alternative date please let us know ASAP. If we are still available on this new date your deposit can be transferred and we will happily provide the services you originally booked. Sadly, if your event is rescheduled to a date where we are unavailable or cancelled entirely, the deposit is not refundable under any circumstances and a cancellations fee may apply (see below). We totally understand this might be a difficult time so please get in touch immediately if there are any changes to your plans. Rest assured, we have the greatest sympathy for anyone who has had to cancel their wedding day or event and we aim to handle these instances with as much respect as possible. However, if the event is called off entirely, it is unlikely we will gain alternative work at short notice (especially for weddings which are often booked over a year in advance). The cancellation fees below are reflective of this and we highly recommend reading these carefully before any booking is made: Cancellation more than 6 months before the event - no cancellation fees payable Cancellation 2-6 months before the event - 50% of the remaining balance is payable Cancellation within 2 month’s of the event - 100% of the remaining balance is payable Deposit - not refundable under any circumstances

What is your setup?Despite being only 2 members, we do have a small amount of equipment, namely a PA system, a mixing desk and microphone stands. This means that a power supply is an absolute must (if you’ve booked us to play in a marquee in the middle of a field please think about this when arranging where you would like us to set up). We are also able to supply basic stage lighting if required. A typical setup takes between 20-45 minutes if we are able to load in near the performance area so it is always best to factor this in when arranging your schedule. We are also able to perform completely acoustically (without power) but please bear in mind this would only be suitable for a very quiet occasion such as a wedding ceremony. If there are guests talking then you are unlikely to be able to hear us.
-
Is an acoustic duo enough to entertain my guests?Trust us... it most certainly is! We consider ourselves to be a very versatile act. Feel free to follow us on Instagram where you can see videos of us performing everything from pleasant restaurants and wedding ceremonies to dancefloor filled parties. We’ve definitely noticed a recent trend towards intimate/DIY wedding parties and events; an acoustic act is ideal if you want your guests to still be able to chat amongst themselves, but we can easily switch to “party mode” once everyone has had a few drinks and wants to dance! And if you really want to take things up another notch, we have our Acoustic Trio option! Perfect for bigger venues and more lively parties!
-
Are Morgan & Melville part of a music agency? No, Morgan & Melville are independent musicians. There are no wedding band agency fees if you book us directly and you will get a completely personalised experience through from booking the duo up to the day of your event.
-
How soon before our event should we book Morgan & Melville? We would always recommend booking your entertainment as soon as you can to avoid disappointment, especially if your event is on a peak date such as a Summer weekend or a Bank Holiday. Most wedding entertainers tend to confirm bookings at least 6 months before the big day, sometimes a year or even 2 years before.

Can you perform outdoors?Acoustic music is ideal for the great wide open because it sounds incredible and the noise levels are much easier to control. It’s the perfect way to enjoy live music whilst basking in the sunshine and we thoroughly enjoy it. For outdoor setups we require access to a power supply and (ideally) some form of overhead cover. If cover is not available we can still perform outside, but if it starts raining we would have to stop and move indoors. We can also provide a “roaming” set; thanks to wireless technology we have the ability to mingle amongst your guests whilst playing. This can work well at large garden parties and is a great way to get guests interacting with the band. All too often, newly wed couples miss some of the entertainment because they are busy having 20 million wedding photographs taken. Our roaming set is a great work-around! If this is something you’d be interested in then please let us know.
-
How long do you perform for?A standard daytime or evening set is 2 x 45 minutes. Wedding ceremonies and other events are a bit different of course so it’s up to you how much live music you want on your big day. Our Weddings page describes some of the most popular combinations but if you let us know exactly what you're after we can help you put a plan together.
-
Are Morgan & Melville experienced musicians?Yes! Charlotte has performed in a range of shows within the entertainment industry and been part of countless professional theatre productions, bringing an unmatched elegance and sophistication to this acoustic duo. Dan has been performing as a musician since the year 2000 and has over a decade of experience performing at weddings, with several wedding-industry entertainment awards under his belt. A truly professional combo!
-
Do you take requests? We are always looking for new songs to learn and will happily perform requests within reason. There are certain songs which really lend themselves to an acoustic guitar so feel free to send us a suggestion, particularly if there’s a song that’s really meaningful to you (e.g. for your first dance). If there are specific songs that you would love to hear us perform in our set then, we will endeavour to make this happen, providing we have enough notice. Our Repertoire page lists the core songs we perform regularly so feel free to choose any of these. Likewise, if there are specific songs you would like us to avoid playing, please let us know before the day. There’s no need to choose our entire set though - just relax and trust us! Remember, we do this week-in-week-out and have a great idea which songs work best!
-
Can we request religious songs for our wedding ceremony? In the UK, songs with religious content (hymns) are only permitted in religious wedding ceremonies i.e. in a church service. You can have non-religious songs performed at your church wedding but these must be approved beforehand by your minister and are unlikely to be accepted if they contain any raunchy lyrics or naughty words. Hymns are strictly prohibited at civil weddings/civil partnerships and the music must not include any religious content whatsoever. All of the songs you select for your civil ceremony must be approved in advance by your registrar. We are more than happy to guide you through this process and provide lyrics if needed.
-
How far do Morgan & Melville travel?Hey, if you want to fly us out to your wedding in Cyprus then we are game! In all seriousness, we are based in the Swansea area which makes us ideally situated to perform anywhere in South Wales and along the M4 corridor, but if you need us to venture further afield please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
-
Can you provide background music when you’re not performing?Yes. We are happy to play appropriate music through our PA system before performing if needed and in-between sets. (Please note we do not provide use of our equipment for wedding speeches as this is provided by the venue). If you require DJ music after our evening performance, this can be provided for an additional charge (please ask for more details).
-
Do we have to feed you?A little light refreshment is always appreciated! For public gigs, most venues are kind enough to provide us with a drink or two to keep us going. For weddings, which are usually a longer day, it is important to feed the musicians, otherwise they might run out of steam! It doesn’t have to be the same food as the guests are eating, but a little snack goes a long way towards a happier performance! Most brides and grooms are happy for us to join their guests at the evening buffet.
-
Can we come up and sing with you?If you're booking professional musicians then it's always best to leave the singing to them. If you and your guests want to sing then you may be better off just booking a karaoke. Stage invaders are never welcome and it’s really not a cool thing to grab the microphone off a performer - it just ruins the enjoyment for everyone else. We don't show up at your place of work and try and do your job after all! Pre-planned performances are a different matter however, so if you have something up your sleeve (e.g. singing happy birthday to your Nan or serenading your new husband etc.) then please do let us know this in advance.
-
Would you be happy to arrive earlier to setup?Yes, if possible and with enough notice. (Please note there will likely be additional fees for early setups).
-
Our venue has a strict sound level policy. Are we still able to book you?Absolutely! An acoustic duo can be as quiet or as loud as you need. We can be the same volume as your guests, as loud as a band, or anything in-between. This make us an ideal choice of live entertainment for venues that have a sound limiter installed (a device that monitors sound levels and cuts off the power supply when things go beyond a specific volume) and any places that don't allow guitar amps and drums. We regularly perform at restaurants as background music, where guests can choose whether to listen or still have conversations. We can also pump up the volume and crank up the bass to get the party started. Flexibility guaranteed!
-
How will you be dressed?Typically we always dress very smart for weddings and smart-casual for non-wedding gigs. If you have a particular theme/colour scheme for your event (e.g. black tie, Hawaiian, etc) then please feel free to let us know in advance and we will do our best to dress appropriately.
-
Is your equipment PAT tested?Yes. Some venues may ask to see a PAT certificate and this can be provided upon request.
-
Do you have Public Liability Insurance?Yes we do. Proof of this is available upon request should your venue need it.
-
What happens if you are ill on the day of my event and can't perform? There are very few things that would prevent us from attending your event, but sadly nature is very unpredictable and everybody gets ill at some point or another. This is true for all event suppliers, not just musicians, and the last thing we would want to do is come and spread our germs with you and your guests. In the event that one of us cannot perform due to illness or other exceptional circumstances, we will try and contact you as soon as possible and will endeavour to find a suitable replacement musician that meets the standards you expect. As experienced performers, we are very lucky to be part of a pool of talented musicians who can step in (deputise) at short notice. In fact, both of us have a lot of experience 'depping' for other acts as well!
